CRAFTING YOUR QUEST
When last we met, I had been asking ChatGPT for advice on being my own guide, my own inner wizard a la Gandalph The Grey–and ChatGPT really came through for me!
“Embark on Your Own Hero’s Journey: Becoming Your Own Inner Guide“
The first step was: Craft Your Quest
Tracy and I did a whole series on the podcast around the Hero’s Journey (episodes #101 – #107). But this will be personal, I mean, I would hope crafting our individual quests would be personal! 🙂 The (my) Hero’s Journey is spelled out: become my own inner guide, so that’s my North star, my quest.
Okay, Craft my quest…My quest is how to be my own guide–my own Gandalph. But also, is it? Because, really my grand vision was/is to step into 2025 as my next best self, I don’t care if that sounds dorky or even vague, because I get to define what that means and so do you. But also, if I want to do that, I do need to be my own guide, otherwise I’ll never trust myself enough to do the things that will help me step into 2025. I’m going to not overthink this. Let’s begin.
Start with the end, you have to know the destination (or a good idea at any rate). What will victory look like? (Total facilitation trick here.) How will you be able to “measure” success. The word “victory” seems so fitting for a Hero’s Journey, a quest. Would victory for you be some tangibles and some intangibles?
Tangibles:
Some tangibles might be: I read X number of books on fill in the blank. I walked X miles. I meditated X times a week for X weeks. I organized X rooms (or closets) in my home.
Intangibles:
You get the picture. Now for the intangibles: I trust my intuition, I keep promises to myself, I feel stronger. I feel smarter. I feel more mindful. I feel in control.
I think for being my own guide I need a system in place for making decisions that I then follow through on. Okay, how do I either create a system or find one? One thing that I used to do and will now dust-off is a “talking to myself” journal.
I use two different colored inks, one is me, the other is also me, but me as my higher self. I am not even kidding you, it has worked in the past–why did I ever stop?–and I think it will work now. I basically write out a situation, a question, or how I am feeling, and then I allow my higher self to step in and answer me. AND IT WORKS…
I’ll continue to add to the systems as time goes on…I’ve got time, said every person everywhere that piddled away their time…:)
Who is my “next best self” if I put together all those tangibles and intangibles (and some I didn’t even write…
She is highly connected with the people she loves. She spends time with family and friends. She trusts her intuition. She meditates daily (or very nearly so). She is happy in her skin. She says she is going to do something and she does, indeed, do that thing. She seeks the things that are healthy for her daily. She is a published author. She values all the ways her creativity wants to show up. She has multiple streams of income and therefor never stresses about money. She is not thrown by anything surprising or upsetting. She cooks herself healthy and fun dishes. She continues to learn things everyday.
She sounds like someone I would like. 🙂
My plan is to continue this series and to add how I’m doing with all of this.
What kind of a quest would you craft?
Be brave, kind, and love each other, Amy
