New Achievement!

The above title is taken directly from Matt Dinniman’s extremely popular Dungeon Crawler Carl series and if you’ve listened to the audio books you should be able to hear Jeff Hays’ voice saying those exact words.

Anywho. I’ve finished editing the first book in a trilogy I’m writing…yay! Also it feels as if it’s the eleventy billionth time I’ve “finished” it. Although, I do feel good-ish about it this time and have sent it off to three beta readers. So now we simply have to wait for their comments.

I’m being very patient.

Once I get feedback, I’ll take another pass through and then, no matter how many more “great ideas!” I have, once I have the cover, I am shipping it! Sending it out to the world because one of the things I’m learning this year is done is better than perfect.

I’ve even started book two, and instead of taking 10 years to write it, my goal is a completed draft be the end of October. Of this year. 🙂

Changing my regular M.O. is hard, but I feel momentum building and since the beginning of this year I have worked on my manuscript consistently–which is not a strength of mine. In fact out of 34 Strengths (Clifton/Gallup) Consistency is dead last. So I trick myself. Sometimes I make it fun or I habit stack. But the thing that’s worked the best? Accountability. I’m lucky, I have one accountability partner and I have a separate accountability group. And I NEVER want to disappoint my partner or the group.

What’s worked for you? I’d love to know.

Amy. Be brave, be kind, and love each other
