When last we left the intrepid novelist, she did not actually consider herself a novelist.
Whether I write in first person or third it doesn’t change the fact that I don’t consider myself a “novelist” or an “author” or even a “writer,” (wellllllll, maybe a writer, now that I’ve finished writing a book) and I sort of want to know when I will. Will it be when I publish my first book? My third? When someone someday introduces me as an author?
Some people might never consider me one if I am never traditionally published. I think I’m okay with that. And yet, maybe it does have more to do with what I think other people think than what I actually think.
That was a whole lot of thinks. But I am on to something. And I do not like it. But simply not liking it doesn’t change it–spoiler alert: I don’t see me coming to a happy ending conclusion in this blog today, but I will continue thinking about it. And also, acknowledging something can help figure it out. So, there’s that.
Maybe once I have my own internal validation I won’t be such a needy little rabbit. But right now, I am twitching my nose as I wait.
What title are you denying yourself?
Amy. Be brave, be kind, and love each other
